This party would be a wonderful reception following your nutkin's baptism/bris/dedication ceremony, when family and friends celebrate together. White represents innocence and cleanliness (a new start, a clean soul) so try an all-out white theme that not only includes the decor, but even the food and beverages!
For decor, couple of giant white balloons have a huge impact at a very low cost. White square plates are chic and extremely handy when they're disposable (no dishes to do after all of the hosting!). White tea lights cost just pennies but make for a great step up in the sophistication department. If you'd like to invest in a very reasonable set of serving platters ($22.75!) that can be used at parties for years to come, try these from CB2.
Food options could include white cheeses and crackers for adults, while bagels and cream cheese with optional veggie faces would be fun for the kids. Another choice would be to make cute sack lunches for adults and kids alike inside of white paper bags. Take this one step further by giving them in a fabric sack from print paper pattern. Top it off with dessert- line up any white treats like white chocolates, marshmallows, tea cookies, nougat bars... to make a beautiful dessert display in the vein of Amy Atlas, one of my design idols.
For beverages, try this hot chocolate recipe during the colder months, or to quench thirst on a hot day use any kind of seltzer or sparkling water. White stir sticks or straws are simple but add a special detail.
